Many vacationers travel south to begin their annual period of rest and relaxation. Often these weary travelers will choose to take their time and stay overnight near the North Carolina and South Carolina border off I-95. If you find yourself in this position, you will have a handful of campsites to choose from.
Lumberton/I-95 KOA
The Lumberton/I-95 KOA, located just over 3 miles from the highway, features full-hookup RV sites and several tent sites with running water. The level RV sites offer full 50/30-amp service and free WIFI, while the tent sites boast electric and a covered picnic shelter. Campers may enjoy many outdoor amenities ranging from a pool and playground to trails, fishing, dog park, and more. Indoor amenities include a family suite bathhouse, laundry, kitchen, and camp store. Like other vacationers, you may highly value the clean restrooms and friendly staff.
Pedro’s Paradise
Camp Pedro at South Carolina’s Mexican-themed South of the Border is a year-round campground, about one-tenth of a mile off I-95. The campground resort has 100 RV sites — no tents — with full hookups, almost 50 pull-throughs for big rigs, showers and laundry facilities. Like a small town, the resort has service stations, drug, grocery, gift and fireworks stores, five restaurants, and an ice cream parlor. You don’t have to camp here to enjoy the on-site recreation amenities that include two swimming pools, basketball and tennis courts, game rooms, and a miniature golf course.
Highway Oasis
Bass Lake Campground, in Dillon, South Carolina, is a small property with almost 40 full hookup sites for RVs and tents. The year-round campground is geared for travelers looking for a quiet break rather than fancy amenities and entertainment. A playground provides fun for the children, while bathhouses, a dump station, laundry room and camp store are centrally located. A stocked 7-acre lake offers wildlife watchers a place to reflect and licensed anglers a spot to catch and release bass, brim and catfish. The campground is about 400 yards off I-95, just south of the state line.
