Waterviews are so serene and soothing. When you can’t physically be around water, viewing images of the same can make you feel calm. That’s why we created a short slideshow featuring images of lakes, waterfalls, and beaches. In each slide, we have shared a related quote or poem.

Craig Drown, the Photographer, supplied all of the waterscapes for this feature entitled, “Reflections on Water.” Join us as we visit Logan Martin Lake in Alabama; Oak Mountain State Park in Alabama; Panama City Beach, Florida; and the Florida Keys. Just click on the slideshow below!

Logan Martin Lake, AL-1

Logan Martin Lake, Alabama

Located in east central Alabama, this lovely reservoir provides many scenic shots for our photographer, Craig Drown. Recreationers can enjoy fishing and boating on the popular lake.

“A lake is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.”
-Henry David Thoreau

The Lake. To–
“In spring of youth, it was my lot
To haunt of the wide world a spot
The which I could not love the less–
So lovely was the loneliness
Of a wild lake, with black rock bound,
And the tall pines that towered around.”
~ Edgar Alan Poe

Peavine Falls, Alabama

Peavine Falls is also located in Oak Mountain State Park. You’ll have many trails to choose from to reach this 65 foot tall, spring fed waterfall. It’s located at the top most ridge in the Park, so bring your camera, if you visit!

The Lake Isle of Innisfree
“I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.”
~William Butler Yeats

“A sloop of amber slips away
Upon an ether sea,
And wrecks in peace a purple tar,
The son of ecstasy.”
~Emily Dickinson

Panama City, Florida

Panama City Beach, Florida

This vacation-lovers paradise is perfect for those who love the sand and surf. I can’t verify this but the city does claim to have the “world’s most beautiful beaches.” Thanks to our photographer, Craig Drown, the beaches of Panama City are now on our bucket list!
“We dream in colors borrowed from the sea.”

The Florida Keys

The Florida Keys

Labeled as a coral cay archipelago in Southern Florida, the Keys are a go-to spot for many sun worshippers. Throw in the magnificent beaches and splendid sunsets, and you have a winning combination for vacationers!
““Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.”
